Please read these policies carefully before shipping any watch or parts. Sending items to Verin Horology means you agree to everything below.

1) Communication & turnaround

This is a one-person workshop. While your project is in progress, my reply time may be slow because bench time comes first.

  • Typical turnaround: 4–6 weeks (varies by workload, complexity, and parts availability).

  • This is an estimate, not a guarantee.

  • If you haven’t heard back for a while, it usually means I’m in the middle of active bench work—please allow time for a response.

If you need rush service or frequent daily updates, this may not be the best fit.

2) What to include in the package

Every shipment must include a clearly written or printed note with:

  • Full name

  • Return shipping address

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Forum/Reddit username (if applicable)

  • List of requested work (be specific)

  • Any important instructions (ex: “return old movement,” “add insurance,” etc.)

If the note is missing or unreadable, your job may be delayed.

3) Packaging requirements

  • Wrap the watch securely (bubble wrap preferred).

  • Use disposable packaging whenever possible.

  • I do not return large presentation boxes that can’t fit into a USPS Small Flat Rate box.

4) Shipping, risk & insurance

  • Return shipments are typically sent via USPS Priority Mail, securely packed.

  • Insurance is not included by default unless you request it in writing inside the package note.

  • You are responsible for shipping risk to me and back to you (loss, theft, damage, delays).

Carrier claims and recovery are the customer’s responsibility. I strongly recommend adding insurance for higher-value watches.

5) Payment

  • Payment is due after the work is completed.

  • The watch will not be returned until payment clears.

  • Accepted payment method: PayPal Friends & Family / Zelle (unless otherwise agreed).

Unpaid balances: if payment is not received within a reasonable time after completion (up to 3 months), the watch and/or parts may be considered abandoned and may be sold to recover costs.

6) Quotes, parts & approvals

  • Any price provided before inspection is an estimate, not a final bill.

  • Customers are generally responsible for sourcing parts they want installed.

  • Full service pricing does not include major replacement movement parts.

If parts are needed during service:

  • I may replace minor parts/consumables up to about $100 without approval.

  • If parts exceed that amount, I will contact you before proceeding.

7) What a “full service” includes

A full service typically includes:

  • Complete disassembly (strip down)

  • Cleaning

  • Inspection and replacement of worn/broken parts (as agreed)

  • Reassembly

  • Proper lubrication

  • Regulation on timing equipment and basic performance checks

After service, some movements—especially low-grade or heavily modified builds—may still fail to meet ideal standards. If that happens, I’ll work with you on solutions (for example, a movement replacement). Any extra labor/parts for additional solutions are billed separately.

8) Replica/custom movement expectations

Replica and custom builds are not manufactured to Swiss standards. Reasonable expectations are required.

  • Regulation targets for replicas are typically within about -15s/day to +15s/day (varies by movement).

  • Date change tolerance may vary (approx. ±15 minutes around midnight).

9) Old parts / replaced movements

If I replace a movement or major component, the original may be retained for my parts stock unless you request return in writing on the included note.

10) Water resistance / pressure testing (important)

Pressure testing is available when applicable.

  • Seals may be lubricated before testing.

  • Testing is a verification at the time of testing only.

  • It is not a guarantee of real-world water resistance.

  • I do not cover water damage even if a watch passed a test.

Testing is performed using a professional pressure testing instrument, and results may be documented with photos/printouts where available.

Note: This is a test-only service. Leak tracing, repair, and additional sealing work are separate services (additional labor/parts). A fee does not guarantee the watch will pass.

11) Gold plating policies

  • Plating is performed using professional equipment, proper cleaning cycles, and controlled processing.

  • Each plated part is coated with approximately 2.5 microns of hardened gold.

  • Plating is offered on stainless steel parts only.

  • Plating available for: bracelets, cases, bezels, crowns, casebacks (project-dependent).

  • Color options: 14/18k yellow gold, rose gold, dark/white rhodium, palladium, silver and a blend that mimics white gold.

Plating warranty:

  • Covered for defects like flaking or abnormal discoloration due to process issues.

  • Not covered: normal wear, scratches, impacts, chemical exposure, or abuse.

12) High-risk services (customer assumes risk)

Some services carry risk due to the fragility of parts:

  • Bezel/insert removal or installation: inserts can crack (especially custom/replica).

  • Dial shaving / thinning: delicate work and may result in dial damage. By requesting this service, you acknowledge the risk and agree not to hold me responsible for cosmetic damage that can occur during the process.

13) Warranty

Standard service includes a 6-month workmanship warranty. In some cases, warranty may be extended (12 months) at my discretion and will be noted on your paperwork.

Warranty covers labor only when the issue is directly caused by my service.

Warranty is void if:

  • the watch is opened/tampered with

  • modifications or repairs are performed by anyone else

  • misuse/abuse occurs

Not covered by warranty:

  • Water damage

  • Shock/impact damage

  • Normal regulation drift

  • External parts and wear items (bracelets, crystals, crowns, stems, bezels, inserts, balances, etc.)

  • Failures caused by poor manufacturing or low-quality replica/custom components

If there’s a problem related to my work, I’ll make it right. If the underlying issue is the quality/condition of parts or manufacturing, I’ll advise the best next option.
